Were we there?

It was nice to know you were all there. Pete, Adam, Dani, and Kobe were obviously not important enough to be in any of the photos. I am kinda used to it, being left in Virginia at an abandoned rest area for a week while the rest of you were on vacation at Gramp and Grams. As for my kids, I was hoping that would not feel the pain of knowing your family ignores your existence. Good thing we are strong, confident, and self-assured. (I think,,, well maybe)

Top photos are recent hike at Katahdin, third photo is Knifes Edge (Katahdin) on a clearer day, and last photo is Tricia on one of our earlier hikes.

Check out the beautiful day on top of Katahdin and Hamlin Peak. Rain, Sleet, Hail, and 60 mph winds. The third picture is what it should have been like. Tricia and I still had a good time, the second day was a little better, but still cloudy with no views and some rain. On Thursday we climbed Pamola (4910 ft) then on to South Peak of Katahdin and Baxter Peak (5268 ft) than finally to Hamlin Peak (4756 ft) 10.8 Miles total. On Friday we were going to do one peak but the Energizer Bunny decided to make it another three. We climbed Mount Coe (3795 ft), over to South Brother (3937 ft), than on to North Brother (4151 ft). Another 10.5 Mile day.

Note to all men: "Do not comment (out loud) that the woman you are with might be part Mountain Goat. Somehow they don't think that is complimentary.

Anyway, had a great time, with some gourmet outdoor cooking Thursday night, Chicken Sausage marinated in apple maple sauce, stir fried with broccoli, and green peppers, a side of sweet potatoes, and a bottle of chilled French chardonnay. (Luckily I had hidden a beer and beef jerky in my sleeping bag).

Take care all, and see you soon
Pete

Fourth of July, pt 4, the finale

So this is my last installment, some of my favorite random shots from the week. I don't even know if anyone is looking at them at this point it's mostly for my own enjoyment :)
Two things that I think should be paired more often, coloring and beer
Roundabout 5:30 am the morning of the fourth, we paid that day for that all nighter but it was worth it, good times!
This was either shortly before or shortly after Gram and Gramp mooned them
Awwww! Really what else can you say
Kev and Jess in a quiet moment at the cove.
See you all next summer, xoxoxoxo!
